Covid-19 Reflection

 Hello Friends;

There is a familiar quote that is often referred to as the Chinese Curse.  It says simply, “May you live in interesting times.”  Well, folks, we are living in “interesting times.”   As COVID-19 sweeps through our country and our world, life is not the same as it was just a few short weeks ago,

For many people, this will be a frightening time as they worry about their own health or the health of a loved one.  Many, especially those without easy access to electronic connections, will feel isolated and alone.  Church services and activities, where many people find support, encouragement, and fellowship have been suspended.

We are living in interesting times, but it is up to us to decide if this is a curse or if it just might be a blessing.  There are many amazing things happening.  A number of drug stores and grocery stores in Vancouver and Toronto are opening an hour early and admitting only seniors and those at high risk.  They are promising that all floors, counters, and shelves will be wiped down during the night so that those who need to shop can do so in the safest environment they can offer.  Neighbours across the country are shopping for and delivering to those in isolation.  Phone trees are being set up everywhere to make sure that those who live alone are checked on.

It is absolutely true that this is not a situation we would ever have chosen to find ourselves in, but here we are, so let’s be open to finding opportunities to turn this “curse” into a blessing.

May God’s mighty Spirit continue to be with all of us throughout these “interesting times”!

Rev. Sharon
